YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Scheduling an appointment: The physicians and staff of the Center for Reproduction strive make patient visits as easy and effective as possible. It's our goal to treat you with compassion, confidentiality and the unique personal attention you deserve. Appointments may be scheduled directly, or through your obstetrician/gynecologist's office, by calling the Women's Institute at 704-355-3149.

What you will need for your first visit: After your first visit is scheduled, you will receive a packet of information in the mail with an introductory letter to the Center for Reproduction at the Women's Institute. Questionnaires (for males and females) and insurance information as well as preconceptual information are included in the packet. Please return you completed forms to the office prior to your visit.

In addition, please forward any medical records from your primary physician's office. Make sure any office notes, blood test results, ultrasounds, surgery reports and semen analyses are included. Before your appointment, please call our office to make sure your records have been received. If you have had a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) performed, please make sure we receive the x-rays. Providing this information in advance will ensure that your first appointment goes as smoothly as possible.

What to expect during your first appointment: Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Your physician will review your medical records and obtain a thorough medical history. A physical exam may also be performed.

An initial appointment takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour. By the end of your appointment, your physician will establish a plan for diagnostic testing and/or treatment. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions regarding your fertility and management plan. Following your visit, insurance specialists are on hand to assist you with any financial concerns or insurance authorizations.
