BOOT CAMP FOR NEW DADS

How do I hold my new baby... change a diaper... mix a bottle? These are questions many new dads ask. Thanks to a unique workshop now offered through Carolinas HealthCare System, dads can get the answers.

Boot Camp for New Dads is a national program that debuted at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) in June 2000. Offered monthly at CMC, Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville and Carolinas Medical Center-University, the program features an interesting lineup of instructors: "veteran" fathers of 2- to 3-month-old babies. These "vets" offer parenting tips, as well as advice on caring for new moms. They also bring their babies to class to assist in drills such as diaper changing.

The camp is open to any father-to-be or veteran fathers, but this is a guy thing—no women over 2 feet tall allowed.
