PATIENT CARE LOCATIONS
Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU)
Patients in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit need the specialized care provided by the intensive care nurses and doctors. There is a lot of equipment at the bedside. This can be very frightening at first, however, learning how to understand the equipment will help you be more comfortable while your family member is in the TICU.
General Care Unit
Patients with less critical injuries and those who no longer need ICU or PCU monitoring are admitted to a general care unit. Nurses in the general care units are responsible for several patients at one time. Family members are encouraged to participate in daily care to prepare for discharge.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Children with severe injuries are admitted to the 12-bed PICU where a team of subspecialists, including pediatric intensivists, is available to promptly address a wide variety of needs. A family waiting room is located nearby that is open 24 hours a day to allow families to spend as much time as possible with their injured child.
