Restorative Nursing
A team of professional nurses with advanced training in rehabilitation who assist the deconditioned patient achieve or return to their maximum potential for independent living:

  • Stretching and relaxation exercises
  • Safety training
  • Bed mobility
  • Bowel and bladder programs
Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation
CMC-Home Care staff recognize the multifaceted and complex needs of patients suffering from cardiopulmonary disease and have designated a comprehensive program that focuses on:
  • Improving the quality of life
  • Symptom management
  • Medication and diet management
  • Education in early intervention in order to decrease emergency room visits and hospital readmissions
  • Stress management
  • Energy conservation
  • Breathing techniques
Maternal Child Services
CMC-Home Care's Women and Children's Team is another specialty focused program within Carolinas HealthCare System. It offers a complete scope of services that begin at infancy through childhood.

Infants and Children
Registered Nurses with advanced experience and training in pediatrics provide patients with the following services:

  • Assessment and Evaluation of infants, children, and new mothers
  • Short stay maternity program (for appropriate candidates)
  • Lactation educators
  • Phototherapy
  • Parenteral and enteral nutrition
  • Education in newborn care
  • Disease management
  • Education to families and/or caregivers in CPR
  • Neonatal and pediatric infusion therapy
The Neonatal Infusion Therapy Program is unique in the Triad and is compromised of registered nurses with advanced experience in both neonatal care and infusion therapy. The following services are available:
  • IV antibiotics
  • Hydration fluids
  • Total parenteral nutrition
  • Insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC)
  • Midline catheter placement
  • Care and maintenance of central lines
Rehabilitation Services
CMC-Home Care's Rehabilitation Team is one of the largest in North Carolina. It includes:

Physical Therapy
CMC-Home Care's highly trained physical therapists provide the latest techniques in rehabilitation services to patients in the comfort of their own homes. These services include:

  • Complete physical assessment of the patient and the patient's environment
  • The establishment of an individualized plan of treatment with input from the patient and the patient's caregivers
  • The establishment of a home maintenance program
  • Individualized training and instruction to patients and the caregivers
  • Safety training
  • A complete range of therapeutic exercises which are individualized to meet the particular needs of specific patients
  • Pre-operative, in home assessment program
Occupational Therapy
CMC-Home Care's Occupational Therapists are committed to restoring the patient to their highest level of function and independence. Some of the services they provide are:
  • Complete evaluation of the patient and of the patient's environment
  • Establishment of a plan of care to restore the patient to a maximum level of independence in ADL's
  • An individualized care plan that meets the patient's specific needs and wants
  • Evaluation and recommendation for appropriate adaptive equipment
  • Splinting, casting, and immobilizing according to the physician's orders
Speech Language Pathologists
CMC-Home Care's Speech Pathology Department is composed of experts who maximize a patient's potential for communicating their needs and wants. Some of the ways they restore the patient's ability to communicate are the following:
  • Complete an evaluation of the patient's speech, swallowing, feeding, and other appropriate evaluations for specific needs of the patient
  • Establish a comprehensive plan of treatment, with the help of the patient
  • Therapeutic exercises based on the patient's specific needs and wants
  • Adaptive equipment to help the patient communicate most effectively
Total Joint Replacement Rehabilitation
CMC-Home Care's diverse team of therapists includes a neurological component that specializes in the following services:
  • CVAs
  • Head injuries
  • Parkinson's Syndrome
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome
  • Specialty splint application
CMC-Home Care's Occupational Therapy staff has advanced skills in splint application for both adults and children. CMC-Home Care also has certified fitters for compression garments and other specialty items in each of its locations.
