ADOLESCENT INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM

501 Billingsley Rd.
Charlotte, NC 28211

Intensive Outpatient Treatment
The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program is a highly structured, therapeutic program for adolescents between the ages of 13 - 17 years old. The program uses a level system to monitor therapeutic gains. Graduation or discharge is based solely on the progress of each individual patient. The program is designed to meet the needs of teens identified as having substance abuse, emotional or behavioral problems, family conflicts and school-related difficulties (truancy/declining grades). The program is family-focused and the family is considered an integral part of treatment. Process groups are the core therapeutic interventions and are complimented by multi-family groups, didactic groups, recreational therapy groups, and individual and family therapy groups. The program places emphasis on treating a variety of individuals with moderate to marked impairment resulting from psychiatric, emotional, behavioral and/or chemical dependency.

Psychiatric social workers, master's level therapists, and psychological assistants provide the daily programming for the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program. Trained recreational therapists conduct experiential RT groups. The treatment team works with a board-certified psychiatrist who assists with the treatment planning process and is available to meet any medication needs of our clients.

Chemical Dependency Track:
Designed for adolescents whose use of drugs or alcohol is interfering with their ability to be safe, happy, and successful. Underlying issues related to depression, anxiety, mood swings, and oppositional behaviors are explored. Our treatment program supports and redirects adolescents away from the use of alcohol and drugs by providing education on relapse prevention that utilizes a 12-step philosophy.

Mental Health Track:
Designed for adolescents having problems with depression, parent-child relations, school problems, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, impulse control, and grief and loss issues. Adolescents in this track may or may not have minor substance abuse issues as well.

Dual Diagnosis Track:
Designed for adolescents whose use of alcohol/drugs has become problematic for them in addition to having problems with depression, parent-child relations, school problems, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, impulse control, and grief and loss issues. This track combines components from the Mental Health Track and the Chemical Dependency Track for adolescents.

The Behavioral Health Center-Randolph Outpatient Program is supported by the broad continuum of Carolinas HealthCare System's Behavioral Health Centers. Patients in the Intensive Outpatient Program whose needs require additional services can easily access other levels of treatment.
