Anson Community Hospital has provided a wide range of medical services to Anson County
residents since its opening in 1913. A 52-bed facility, Anson Community Hospital is
accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Anson Community Hospital offers a full range of patient services, many of which are listed below.
Surgical Services Department
Anson Community Hospital provides a wide variety of surgical treatment options. From general
surgery and laparoscopic techniques to specialty procedures that include urological endoscopic
and ophthalmic options, we provide our patients with highly skilled surgeons and modern
technology.
Medical Staff
Anson Community Hospital is staffed by highly trained physicians, nurses and other healthcare
professionals representing a wide variety of specialties. The hospital also offers clinics
that specialize in urology, ophthalmology, audiology, obstetrics/gynecology, as well as an
osteoporosis clinic that performs bone density studies.
Cardiopulmonary Services Department
The Cardiopulmonary Services Department provides an array of diagnostic and treatment modalities.
Echocardiograms, cardiac stress tests, holter monitoring and pulmonary function tests are just a few of the
diagnostic services available.
Home Care Services
Anson County residents can receive a wide range of healthcare services in the comfort and
privacy of their own home thanks to our Home Care services. In-home certified nursing assistants are available
to provide the highest quality of care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Lillie Bennett Nursing Center
The Lillie Bennett Nursing Center provides long-term care for the elderly in a pleasant, home-like
environment. The 95-bed facility is accredited by the JCAHO. Following the Eden Alternative
approach, residents regularly interact with plants, animals, children and the outdoors.
Construction of a 29-bed, $1.9 million addition to the Lillie Bennett Nursing Center was
completed in December 2000. The addition is part of a $6.2 million project that includes about $4
million in renovations to the hospital.
Emergency Department
Our 24-hour Emergency Department provides treatment of major and minor emergencies.
It is staffed around-the-clock by highly skilled emergency physicians.
All staff are certified in Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); many are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Emergency Medical Services
Anson Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provides a full range of pre-hospital services to the people of Anson County.
Anson EMS completed an upgrade to Paramedic level two years ago.
Diagnostic Services
The Department of Medical Imaging Services offers diagnostic x-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms,
nuclear medicine and computerized tomography (CT) scans. The laboratory also offers state-of-the-art
technology in the areas of chemistry, blood banking, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation and
sophisticated therapeutic drug monitoring.
Occupational Health Services
Through it's Occupational Health Program, Anson Community Hospital provides an on-site nurse specially
trained to assist local employers in managing employees' health concerns. This on-site nurse assist employers
to control worker compensation costs and promoted healthy lifestyles.
Rehabilitation Services
The Rehabilitation Services Department serves to restore each patient to an appropriate level of
activity for a healthy lifestyle. The department offers physical, occupational and speech therapy
to inpatients, outpatients and long-term care residents.
Parish Nursing Program
Since its 1999 creation, the Parish Nurse Program
has grown to over 25 congregations located throughout Anson County.
A collaborative healthcare ministry, the Parish Nursing Program provides physical,
emotional and spiritual care for individuals through affiliations with area church congregations.

Mobile Health Services
Created by Anson Community Hospital and the Healthy Ansonians 2000 Task Force, the Mobile Health
Screening Service is a freestanding mobile clinic that provides a variety of health screenings to
the community. The Mobile Clinic helps ensure that residents with limited access to medical
resources receive adequate healthcare. Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, hearing and vision
screenings are just a few of the important tests being provided through this mobile unit. For more
