At Cleveland Regional Medical Center (CRMC), patient services are provided through Centers of Excellence, a centralized approach to care designed with the patient in mind. The focus of the Centers of Excellence is to bring together all of the resources and expertise of CRMC and "wrap" these resources around our patients and their families. In a single area of care, patients and their families receive comprehensive services - from diagnostics to treatment and education - from a specialized team of trained caregivers.

Blumenthal Cancer Center
Oncology Center of Excellence
CRMC's cancer program, one of the first in the region to be certified by the American College of Surgeons, offers a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment and care of cancer patients. Blumenthal Cancer Center at Carolinas Medical Center, area patients and their families have access to those same physician groups, comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, as wells as support services without traveling far from home. In addition, a cancer data management program provides statistical analysis and lifetime follow up.

Cleveland Regional Rehab
Rehabilitation Center of Excellence
Through its unique partnership with the Dover Foundation YMCA, CRMC's rehabilitative services provide a full spectrum of care including physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as a certified Cardiac Rehab program. The partnership provides patients continuity of care from the hospital bed to outpatient therapy to daily fitness maintenance programs at the YMCA. This seamless approach to healthier lifestyles assures patients of richer lives and independent living. Certified therapists provide inpatient services at CRMC as well as nearby Cleveland Pines and Crawley Memorial Hospital. Outpatient rehabilitation services are provided at Cleveland Regional Rehab, located with the YMCA in a new 70,000 square-foot facility.

Cleveland Regional Heart Center
Cardiology Center of Excellence
Cleveland Regional's Heart Center, as part of The Carolinas Heart Institute at Carolinas Medical Center, one of the most respected cardiac programs in the Southeast, provides patients with access to those same physician groups and treatment protocols. In addition, the Heart Center provides most of the advanced cardiac procedures available, and offers comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and support services close to home. And for patients requiring heart surgery, helicopter transport is readily available from CRMC's Emergency Department. CRMC's certified Cardiac Rehab Program provides a comprehensive approach to the rehabilitation of those who have experienced heart disease. Located with Cleveland Regional Rehab at the YMCA, our professional staff includes a physician medical director, registered nurses, exercise specialists, a nutritionist, a psychologist and vocational rehab counselor. The American College of Sports Medicine certifies the exercise specialists at the center.

Women's Life Center
Center of Excellence
The Women's Life Center serves as a central resource for women's care, including comprehensive obstetric, gynecological and pediatric units. Childbirth at CRMC is family-oriented, with private home-like suites provided for labor, delivery and family bonding in an intimate setting. Well-trained medical and support staffs provide specialized care, with educational opportunities available for new mothers, as well as siblings. A 25-bassinet nursery, with a Level II designation, offers services such as newborn hearing screening, lactation support services and a host of educational opportunities including a baby-bath class. A dedicated pediatrics area is cheerfully appointed to ease a youngster's hospital stay, with comfortable provisions for parents. In all areas of CRMC, highly qualified professional staff members are ready to assist with any need.

Critical Care Services
Center of Excellence
Intensive services are provided to patients in CRMC's Emergency Department, which is designated as North Carolina's first Level III Trauma Center; and in specially equipped units providing intensive and progressive care. The Emergency Department is equipped to handle all emergency situations and is partnered with Carolinas Medical Center to provide helicopter transport for patients needing very specialized care. In the Intensive Care Unit, and step-down Progressive Care Unit, highly skilled staff utilizes the latest monitoring equipment and provides continual care to patients requiring specialized care.

Surgical Services
Center of Excellence
The Surgical Center offers the community a full range of inpatient and outpatient surgical services, post-acute recovery, a pain management program and special diagnostics services. Skilled surgeons and a dedicated support staff, provide constant care. The primary focus is on delivering multidisciplinary care to the patient and family. Six operating rooms accommodate surgical services that include general, vascular/thoracic, orthopaedic, eye/ear/nose/throat, gynecologic, plastic and reconstructive, dental, urologic, podiatric and ophthalmologic surgery. In addition, CRMC partners with local physicians to operate Cleveland Ambulatory Surgical Center.

Other Services
CRMC also provides important support services including respiratory therapy, cardiopulmonary, pharmacy and health information services. Advanced diagnostic imaging services, such as x-rays, CT scans, mammography, bone densitometry and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), are also available. CRMC operates the Outpatient Radiology Clinic. Located approximately two blocks from CRMC, the Outpatient Radiology Clinic offers quick and personalized x-ray services.

Volunteer and Auxiliary Services
CRMC's Volunteer and Auxiliary programs are among the oldest volunteer organizations in Cleveland County. Volunteers work with the medical staff to perform ancillary duties, manage the Gift Shop, accompany patients to treatment areas and visit with patients and their families. Open to students, who have completed eighth grade, the Junior Volunteer program gives young people an opportunity to experience working in a healthcare environment.
